These experiential classes / sittings are a
combination of Vipassana / Insight practices and the Heart / Metta /
Loving-Kindness / Compassion / Forgiveness practices on a base of
calmness / one-pointedness meditation.
Deepening or establishing a regular Mindfulness practice can help us:
To directly
experience and understand the workings of our heart-mind;
To set aside prior, destructive thought patterns, and
let go of our reactivity and discontent;
To find compassion and love within, and to transform our
sorrows.
This
can support for most spiritual, recovery, therapeutic, or healing
activities.
Mindfulness
Meditation instructions and practice
periods
will develop:
Insight
meditation
(Vipassana / Wisdom / Openness /
Seeing-Clearly),
Concentration meditation (aka Tranquillity /
one-pointedness
calmness),
Heart meditations (including: friendliness
(aka /
loving-kindness), joy, compassion, equanimity, letting-go=generosity),
forgiveness, gratitude)
The
focus will be on learning
(by doing) meditation practices (that you can do at home) via
periods of meditation instructions, guided and silent sitting
and walking meditation, talks, Q&A.
Experiencing the Heart
meditations can add a receptive gentleness to each moment of
practice and to each moment of life. These include:
- Loving-kindness
aka Metta aka
friendliness;
- Compassion
aka mercy aka caring
aka karuna;
- Joy
(Appreciative, empathetic,
& sympathetic)
aka
mudita;
- Equanimity
aka Balance of mind;
- Forgiveness
and Gratitude;
Each class will provide experience in
meditations
that you
can
make your own. These practices support most spiritual, recovery, or
therapeutic activities.
........All Welcome!
Just show
up! Beginners

Experienced meditators can
deepen
their practice, transition from TM or chanting to mindfulness, work on
specific aspects of their

guided and silent meditations, talks,
and Q&A.
Side effects
include relaxation,
stress reduction, lower BP, less
reactivity, etc.
Reasonably Comfortable Chairs; To
sit on Hard
floor = bring cushions / zafu and a pad.
